As business owners we all know the feeling that there are never enough hours in the day to achieve everything we want to and our 'to do lists' just seem to keep on growing on a daily basis.
Added to the everyday stresses of general time management is social media which can waste a lot of valuable time, especially if you don't know what you are doing or you aren't paying attention to what you are doing. This in itself can cause an awful lot of anxiety and overwhelm you if you know you should be posting but you don't have the time to productively post or you don't know what to post.
How to Find Time to Use Social Media
One of the most effective ways to find time to do your social media is to set aside one day or even half a day each month and plan what you are going to do for that month or even the next two, three, six or twelve months ahead. That's right, you heard correctly, take half or one day each month out to plan your social media activity 'but you don't have time to do that I hear you cry'. Okay, so let's put it another way ... If you had an unlimited marketing budget and you were able to hire the most expensive agency in the country to do your marketing for you and they requested that you had a half day or full day strategy session with them each month so that they could get to know and understand everything about your business - would you attend? Of course you would! So why, when you are that agency in charge of your own company's marketing, the person who best know's and understands how it works, can't you see the value in setting aside time to plan your own social media and marketing strategy? Do This to Help You Find Time for Social Media
The irony is that if you dedicated the time to put together a social media strategy, then transferred that strategy to a content calendar and then picked out all the elements that could be automated you would save yourself so much time and effort. Then all you need to do is pop onto your chosen platforms a couple of times each day for a few minutes at a time to check that everything is OK and do a little bit of engaging such as 'Liking', 'Sharing' and 'Commenting' whilst you’re there - now that's not too stressful is it, it's just being sociable.
Don't Become the Best Kept Secret
Basically you have to make the time to market your business otherwise you will end up being the best kept secret and have no business to market. Social media is all about being social, building relationships and rapport with your future clients and customers. If you aren't being social then you will become invisible.
The more you are working the platforms, the more visible your brand becomes. The more visible your brand becomes the more people will know about you and the more people who know about you the more people know what you do and of course, the more sales will follow.
Daily Posting Routine
At the very least you want to have in place a 'Daily Posting Routine' in place that reminds you what you need to do on a daily basis. It can be as simple as you like or as complicated as you make it but whatever you do ensure you have something that reminds you to do what you need to do to market your business on ALL the relevant platforms on a daily basis. Once you have been working with your daily routine for some weeks it will become second nature and then you will wonder why you hadn't thought of using one in the first place. If you don't have a plan for your social media then you will always be posting in a rush and under pressure. To get the most out of social media, planning a strategy and then executing it will always give you the best return on your time, investment and results.
